SAAB 340A (SAAB-Fairchild SF.340)
Unit: Crossair
Serial: HB-AHA (s/n.340A-040)

The first delivered SAAB 340A - actually at that time it was named SAAB Fairchild SF340 because of the 65/35 SAAB Fairchild partnership - was the 5th built, and it went to Crossair on June 6th 1984. Of the four earlier aircraft only the 4th went into service by Comair, and the three other are either stored at Linkoping (no.1), used to prototype for the B version and later donated to a technical training school (no.2) or used as a mock up for the SAAB 2000 (no. 3). The Crossair aircraft, it stayed in service by the airline until 21st February 1990. On this day it was to be used for a training session, and it didn't reach the sky as it should have done. The reason for this was an error made by the crew, the undercarriage was retracted on ground. The damage to the aircraft resulted in a write off. The captain of this training session was later killed during the Crossair Avro RJ100 accident on November 24th 2001.
