F-14A-120-GR | Unit: VX-4, US Navy Serial: 1 (BuNo.161444, KB-11) MAS Point Mugu, October 1987. The classic F-14A, 'Vandy 1', is in an overall glossy black finish and must be one of the most recognized Tomcats ever, with Playboy Bunny emblem on the fins. This A-model is one of the longest serving on the squadron, but 'political correctness' has now seen the Playboy Bunny removed from all VX-4's machines! Note the AIM-54C Phoenix missile on the shoulder.
This aircraft was converted to F-14A+, later redesignated F-14B. Crashed near NAS Oceana during training flight on 18 April 1996. Crew ejected safely.
