Original configuration of Lockheed C-69 transport. Flown by Howard Hughes and TWA President Jack Frye from Burbank, CA to Washington, DC April 17, 1944 in an unofficial record of 6 hours, 58 min. Subsequently registered N86520, painted in both TWA and PAA livery named 'Clipper America'. Later to Intercontinent Airlines as N38936. Crashed at Burbank, CA January 22, 1953.

Lockheed C-69-5-LO Constellation

Serial: CM-553 (42-94553)

This example was a Lockheed Model 049-39-10 ordered pre-war by TWA, but completed as a C-69-5. It is shown in the May 1946 finish with the 'buzz number' CM-553. It was later sold to TWA with the civil registration N52414. All early models had circular porthole-type windows.

Military Air Transport Service markings of a blue and yellow globe on the rear fuselage, black titles on cabin roof, insignia blue band across all fins and rudders with white 'Atlantic' titles on outer fins only and MATS under the port wing in black.

In 1971 it was used for medical evacuation. Grey (FS 16473) with White cabin roof and insignia Blue cheat line. ANG badge on fin with US flag on the inner fin. Black name and Wyoming ANG titles on fin and cabin roof. 187 MAS badge aft of cockpit.
