This aircraft was based at Goose Bay, Labrador and carried high visible Red Arctic markings. It was sold to Peru in 1963 as FAP-517.

On 14 March 1966 this HU-16B landed off shore near Haiphong Harbor to effect a rescue of a downed F-4C Phantom crew. Before the aircraft could complete the pickup, it was hit by fire from North Vietnamese shore batteries, with two of the Albatross crew being killed.

Machine painted as 51-071 at Rescue Heritage Hall Museum, Kirtland AFB, NM is really HU-16E USCG 1280, c/n G-302.

This aircraft was used for search and rescue missions over the Gulf of Tonkin, operating out of Da Nang, South Vietnam. The aircraft was flown by ex Pan American Airlines pilots who were members of the USAF Reserve. The Sticker of the Pa Am was just for fun.

This HU-16B, numeral 55-5292 was used in Vietnam with AFRES crews, most of them were Pan AM employees, hence the badge on the fin. With this 'low-viz' painting was used as airborne command post for SAR missions.

A Coast Guard aircraft overflies a freighter in the Atlantic. The aircraft carries the name of its home station Coast Guard Base Cape Cod, on the nose in Black under the aircraft side number. This aircraft crashed and sunk during ferry flight to Hawaii June 18, 1991.
