EKA-3B

Serial: 614/NG (BuNo.142400)

Formerly A-3B. Modified to KA-3B in May 1966 and to EKA-3B in June 1969. EKA-3B (ex A3D-2)
Unit: VQ-135, Det.3, US Navy
Serial: 611/NL (BuNo.142403)

EKA-3B Skywarrior of VAQ-135, DET-3, in 1973. This was a mixed version, refueling/electronic countermeasure (ECM). The big coverings which normally characterized this version are missing here.

It wore the sign of big chisel (?) at the rudder and under the bilge, outside the refueling system, the ECM pod. This unit was embattled in South-East Asia in September 1969 aboard CVA-43 USS Coral Sea. Formerly it was A-#b, them it was modified to KA-3B in June 1967 and to EKA-3B in April 1968.

A-3B (A3D-2)
Unit: VAH-2, US Navy
Serial: 601/NL (BuNo.147650)

Seen wearing the markings VAH-2, this Skywarrior is shown as it would have appeared in 1965, on board the CVA-43 USS Coral Sea in the Gulf of Tonkin. At this time, it was configured as an A-3B bomber/tanker. This aircraft crashed on October 6th, 1966 after midair collision with RA-5C.
