This is a serial version of Douglas DC-1. Transcontinental and Western Air companies were the first users od DC-2 which flew for the first time on 11th May 1934. The line service started on TWA distance Columbus-Pittsburgh-Newark on 18th May. Among exported DC-2, there was also the depicted PH-AJU of KLM, which gained second place at MacRobertson races in 1934.
