Finland. May 1943. Finish is the standard RLM70/71/65 with large areas of RLM02 sprayed over the upper surfaces. Code is all black, with the exception of the white letter 'J'. Note the usual Eastern Front markings and the stork staffel emblem just under the cockpit.

Fw.189A-1
Unit: I/NJG 100
Serial: W7+WM

Night fighter Focke-Wulf Fw.189A-1 operating over Romanian territory within the stand of I/NJG 100 in 1944. A standard camouflage RLM 70/71 is overlaid with spots of probably light blue RLM 76. The propeller cone and propeller are removed to make possible to see interception radar FuG.212C-1 antenna. Note the flame buffers over exhaust pipes and the 20 mm (MG151) cannon of 'Schraege Muzik' installed behind cockpit glazing.

Fw.189A-1
Unit: 2.(H)/13
Serial: 4E+MK

Fw.189A-1, 4E+MK, of 2.(H)/13 over the Eastern front in Winter 1943. This wore washable winter camouflage, very washed away, and seems to be used to night missions (bottom flats with black painting). Note that the position of yellow band at tail beam often varied by individual machine. It occurred at the level of black cross, next to this, or more far towards rudder.
