RP-63A-11-BE "Pinball Do Not Tilt"
Unit: unknown
Serial: 42-69654

2126th Base Unit Laredo Texas.

This aircraft was served as heavy bomber airborne gunners target. Originally this airplane was not painted at all, it was retained in the colour of duraluminium sheet and over this, it wore insignia and inscriptions. Later the airplane was painted with yellowish-orange colour; marking and inscription remained unchanged. The black anti-reflex band was painted later. Finally, the plane got big black number 'IL 76' replacing inscription - in this time the insignia was removed. A 'smokestacklet' of carburetor air inlet was also installed.

'Pin Ball' was one of the Kingcobras used as manned targets. The pilot was protected by armour and special frangible bullets were used. Every time the aircraft was hit, a red light flashed to indicate impact.

According this source: the airplane is Red (most probably this is mistake).
