Pilot - F/O Alan Wright. Biggin Hill, May 1941. This squadron was used for operational trials of 20mm cannon armed Spitfires which eventually led to the Mk.V. MkIb's were used briefly during the closing stages of the Battle of Britain.

Spitfire Mk.Ia "Provident"
Unit: 313 Sqn, RAF
Serial: RY-V (R7205)

This a/c was named 'Provident' in honour of Provident Clothing and Supply Company Ltd. donated 5000 pounds sterling.

In May 1941 it served with 452 Sqn RAAF at Kirton-in-Lindsey, then on 10 June transferred to 313 Sqn and coded RY-V.

Pilot - Lt.C.Bodie (5 personal victories, 5 in group, 9 probable). Early September, 1940. Battle of Britain. RAF Coltishall. Squadron moved to Kenley on 3rd September 1940. He flew this plane only one week, than on 7th September 1940 it was hardly damaged during forced landing.
