Potez 63-11 No.501 of GR I/36 was forced to land in Son San Juan (Majorca) on 21st June 1940 after having suffered an engine malfunction during a flight to North Africa with a crew comprising lieutenant Doleac, lieutenant Lecolgnec and sub-officer Signoret. The aircraft, having been seized by the Spanish, is shown here during its ferry to Cuatro Vientos (Madrid) flown by a pilot from the Ejercito del Aire, lieutenant Gonzalo Hevia. Once in Madrid the aircraft was taken in charge by the flight test squadron. This aircraft stayed in service until 1945. Initially, French colours and markings were removed, with only the cross of St Andrew on tail fins retained. Later the aircraft was painted entirely in Spanish colours.
