43-6746 again, coded QP-X and marked with full invasion stripes in June 1944. On 2nd July 1944 Lt. Ralph 'Kid' Hofer was KIA in this aircraft near Mostar, Hungary. Victim of Bf.109, possibly flown by Erich Hartmann of JG 52. 4th FG was flying with the 325th FG from Italy, en-mute home from first Russian shuttle mission.

Note only 3 rows of red/white checks, both side. 11 white cross kill marks below windshield. Crew Chief S7Sgt Larry Krantz. The plane was modified to P-51B-7-NA.

Serial: QP-M (43-6815)

Note mistake! Beeson's plane was coded QP-B, serial 43-6819. The Mustang 43-6815 (VF-O) named 'Morphine Sue/Bo Mc' was flown by Lt.J.Russel (336th FS). This airplane take-off crashed on 10th September 1944. Lt. Kouche Injured.

Pilot - Capt. Duane Willard Beeson 'Bee' (finished the War with 19,3 kills). Boise, Idaho. Joined 334th FS 13/10/42. Was Squadron Gunnery Officer until 25/9/43 when he became Group Gunnery Officer until 15/11/43. 'C' Flight CO until 28/12/43, then Squadron Operations Officer 7/3/44, Squadron CO 15/3/44 until he was lost. 43-6819, P-51B-5-NA was Beeson's assigned Mustang.

Pilot - Capt.Victor J.France ('Vic'), Dallas, Texas. This P-51B-5-NA was the aircraft Vic France was lost in on 18 April 1944, near Stendal, Germany. He flew into the ground while chasing a Bf.109 at low level, aircraft exploded inflames.
