Ki-45-Kai | Unit: 3rd chutai, 53rd sentai Serial: 18 Pilot - Jun-i (Army Sergeant) Nobuji Negishi flew this aircraft in November of 1944 when he was stationed at Matsudo Airfield, Japan. The Toryu was camouflaged in a dense pattern of Japanese Army Light Gray (FS36492) and Japanese Army Dark Green on the upper surfaces and natural metal undersurfaces. The tail symbol was a stylized 53 in Yellow Ochre (FS33432) for the 53rd Sentai. Homeland defense units often had a white background to the red Hinomaru (national marking). Propeller hubs were purple (FS35056) and Red-Brown primer (FS30166).

Ki-45-Kai-Hei (type 3) | Unit: 2nd chutai, 5th sentai Serial: unknown Malang Base, Java Island, Indonesia, October 1943. This airplane is Ki-45-Kai-Hei (Ki-45-Kai Type-3). Early Production type, because the Ho-203 37mm cannon appears from the nose. Type-1 (Kou) and Type-2 (Otsu) have two 12.7mm machine guns to the nose.
