This squadron operated from Foggia, in Italy in 1945. The high-visibility tail markings (later reduced to rudder only) were introduced as a quick identification so that it would not be confused with the Me.410.

June 1944. All allied aircraft flying in European skies had black/white stripes painted around their fuselages and wings prior to the D-Day invasion of 6 June 1944. Originally these were around the entire fuselage and wings as seen here on a 57mm cannon-armed FB Mk.XVIII 'Tse-tse' Mosquito.

Serial: RS-J (MM650)

Swannington, Norfolk, late 1944. This aircraft was with No. 157 (Special Duties) Sqn at RAF Swannington as part of No. 100 (Special Duties) Group. Crewed by P/O B.E.Miller RAAF and P/O R.G.Crisford RAAF this Mosquito was lost on a bomber support mission over Lutzkendorf on 14/15 March 1945. 157 (SD) Sqn were the first to take delivery of Mosquito NF.XIXs.
