Aircraft T-5 (BuNo.0308) was one of 15 TBD-1s launched from CV-8 USS Hornet on 4 June 1942. All of VT-8's Devastators were lost in their unsuccessful attacks on the Japanese carriers that morning, during the Battle of Midway.
