Serial 44-62260 was a B-29A-70-BN from the Boeing assembly line at Renton, and was close to the end of the production run. Minus armament, it was operated by the 581st Air Resupply and Communications Squadron within the Thirteenth Air Force.

RB-50B "Thunder Bird"

All of the B-50B's, except the first, were converted to RB-50B reconnaissance platform. All of these ended their days as KB-50J tankers aster 43 had been modified for even more specialized reconnaissance operations.

Yokoto AB, Japan, June 1950. // Formerly B-29A-20-BN. This plane under command of Cpt.Torry flown about 50 reconnaissance sorties over North Korea during the War. On 7th November 1954 it was badly damaged by two Soviet MiG-15 over Kuril Islands area. The plane fall down in sea. 11 crew members baled out. Ten of them were saved.
