Wellington Mk.I of No 149 (East India) Squadron in July of 1939. Camouflage is the early scheme which extends very low on the sides with Light Grey codes and serial numbers. No fin flash is carried.

It joined the squadron on the 17th April 1940 and made its first operational sortie on May 12/13 May 1940. That month it flew seven sorties, making seven in June, six in July, six in August and two in September, then withdrawn before the squadron went overseas.

Unit: 311 Sqn (Czech), RAF
Serial: KX-N (L1111)

This aircraft was operated by 311 Squadron from November 1941 until June 1943. Having flown 23 raids and 19 anti-submarine patrol, it belonged to the top ten aircraft of the squadron. On March 3rd, 1942, Sgt Zezulka's crew brought the plane over Emden and during the raid it was damaged by a Bf.110. It also took part in a 1000 bomber raid on Bremen (this time with F/O Horejsi's crew) on June 25th, 1942. In September 1942 it was the squadron's first bomber to receive the 'Temperate Sea Scheme'.

Serial: AA-V (L7818)

Wellington Mk.Ic of No 75 (New Zealand) Squadron in which Sergeant James Ward won a Victoria Cross in July of 1941. The Black of the undersurfaces is carried very high on the fuselage with a wavy line of separation. Type A fuselage roundels and a fin flash are carried.
