Liberator LR.Mk.III
Unit: 120 Sqn, RAF, SEAC
Serial: M (FK228)

RAF Aldegrove, Northern Ireland, April 1943. The plane was delivered to the RAF in the second half of 1942, and it was assigned to No.120 Squadron of Coastal Command which became the first Liberator operator among RAF units. It wore only an identification letter without the squadron code. The unit did not use the code from December 1941 to July 1944. On March 18, 1943, the bomber attacked a German submarine while escorting HX229 convoy. Its career ended with No. 1332 (Transport) Heavy Conversion Unit. In summer 1945 it was written off. In spring 1943 two Czechoslovak crews underwent familiarization training with No.224 Squadron which used four Liberators (FK225, FK230, FK242 and FK244) from the same production batch as the depicted machine.
