Middle Wallop, Hampshire, UK, September 1940. Flown by Flt.Lt.John Cunningham. Overall RDM2 Night. 35-in A1 roundels appear on the fuselage, with B type markings of 63-in diameter above the wings. The fin flash measured 24 x 27 in. Codes are in Sky Grey, with 8-in high serial in Roundel Red. 3 on cowing in White. Note the initial style of canopy.

Abu Sueir, Egypt, circa Autumn 1941. Dark Green/Middle Stone/Light Mediterranean Blue. An overspray of light colour onto the darker colour suggest that Light Stone has been applied over the Dark Earth. Light coloured ailerons indicate remainder of undersurface probably painted Azure Blue, leaving ailerons in original Sky. 35-in A1 roundels appear on the fuselage, with B type markings of 63-in diameter above the wings. The lower roundels are of A type, in 45-in diameter. The fin flash measured 24 x 27 in. Codes are in Medium Sea Grey and approximately 32-in high. Note the initial style of canopy.

RAF Coltishall. September 1941. While being flown from Coltishall in September 1941, this aircraft was used by the Squadron's Commanding Officer, Wing Commander John 'Cats Eyes' Cunningham DSO, DFC, RAF to become the leading British night fighter ace at the time.

RAF Chivenor, December 1940. Dark Green/Dark Earth/Sky. 35-in A1 roundels appear on the fuselage, with B type markings of 63-in diameter above the wings. The lower wing roundels are of A type, in 45-in diameter. The fin flash measured 24x27 in. The underwing roundels had been overpainted. The codes, in Sky, were approximately 36-in high. Note the initial style of canopy.
