Ki-9 | Unit: 21st hikoshidan Shireibu hikodan Serial: 09-96 Kikuchi, Japan, October 1945. This was only one of many Spruce trainers that were loaded with a full 55 gallon fuel drum in the rear cockpit. They were intended to be expended as special attack aircraft, in the event of landings on the Japanese mainland. The green uppersurfaces of this aircraft had eroded and the original red-orange coat showed through in patches. Although the side numbers were crudely painted, a considerable amount of care had been taken with all of the rudder markings.
