Ki-27-Otsu type 97 model B
Unit: 101st Kyoiku Hikorentai
Serial: 09

Kakogawa airbase, 1943. At the time of Doolittle's raid numerous training units were based in Japan. One of them was the 101st Kyoiku Hikorentai stationed at Kakogawa air base. Its assets comprised Tachikawa Ki-55s and Nakajima Ki-27s. The depicted Ki-27-Otsu was used sometime in 1943. Note large undercarriage wheels and a tail wheel. Such modification was exclusive to some training units. The example was fitted with a gun camera on the upper surface of the left wing, however, here it is obscured by the wing.
