Pilot - praporschik Ivan Smirnov. July-September 1917. Standard finish was silver dope overall. The Russian roundels were applied in six places and the rudder bore the 'Adams's Head' emblem of the 19th KAO. 1st BAG fighters had no marked external differences as far as markings were concerned, but the skull of the unit emblem was slightly different on each individual aircraft.

A Dux built airplane of the Russian Naval Air Station on Oranienbaum Island. It flown by Ensign Vsevolod Leonidovich Yakovlev, August 1917. The small flag on the fuselage is the Russian naval ensign. All Navy Nieuport 21's were trainers. Nieuport 17's were combat airplanes.
