Nieuport 17
Unit: Hussite Czechoslovak air regiment, White Czechs Forces
Serial: N4214

Nizhniy Tagil, On 4th rijna (?) 1918.

Czechoslovak Republic was proclaimed on 28th of October 1918 in Prague and Czechoslovak foreign units were informed about so-called Czechoslovak Legions in Russia, created originally with support of Russian Government (first Tzaritsin - the first company organized already in September 1914 from Czech and Slovak captive volunteers in Kiev - then Provisional, they supported even the first operations of Red Army (battle of Bakhmacz) but went into conflict with Soviet Government after so called Chelyabinsk incident in May 1918 (circumstances still very obscure, but L.D.Trockiy wanted local Soviet functionaries to disarm CS units, CS foreign command wanted to evacuate Russia and and move the units in Western front after Russia war secession) and having substantial military power in turbid situation in Russia , they occupied whole Siberian main railway line and fighting with Soviets they striked through the way to Vladivostok (whole evacuation took until September 1920 some units supported also evacuation of Constitutive Assembly and Kolchak forces, on the countrary left oriented part of soldiers used to desert to Red Army) - they were called 'beloczekhi' (White Czechs) by Soviets.

Nieuport 21
Unit: 1st Czechoslovak Hussite division, White Czechs Forces
Serial: 1940

Summer 1919. Similarly to the No.1359 in September 1918, without cockades at bottom wings, it was painted in the end of April 1919 with dark (brown ?) colour over upper surfaces, Russian cockades at fuselage and rudder were replaced with red and white flag. In September 1919, also wing cockades gave place to red and white bands fringed with blue at the bottom wings and maybe also on the upper wings.
