 Eh, a fleet of 187 F-22s supplemented by F-35s with the same avionics is still a formidable force. The US is collapsing upon its debt and failing economy, and the extreme costs of the F-22 are not something to throw around. If the US can avoid falling into a massive depression and they pull themselves out, I am sure F-22 production will continue. They may be stopping the production of it now, but I doubt the blue prints will be destroyed. Since India, Russia, and China all have 5th generation aircraft or are close to completing 5th generation, I doubt the US will let the F-22 slip away, unless they already have something even better, and the F-22 is just a cover aircraft. Remember, the Yanks had the B-2 since the mid 70s, but didn't officially release it until the 90s....
The F-35 with updated avionics can be just as good. Escpecially if the US continues to just bully smaller nations who don't have the newest aircraft. I want to see a 5th generation dog fight. Not that impossible. China, Russia, India, South Korea, and the US all will have 5th gen in a few years. And the Japanese have copied the F-22(Although they claim it is their own design, take a look at the current frame they have. The ATD-X looks like the F-22 with a few variations).

Obvious that this poll is dedicated to the last debates in American political circles. And the question is not even of Raptor and Lightning II but if USAF, USN and USMC have to buy new stuff altogether. If someone beyond the ocean thinks that Raptor is an advanced superplane that means Mass Media does its job. Now when the shadow of war is thickening all the time it’s not a case to spend tax payers’ money for interested corporations but to prepare the Armed Forces for the war. Now as far as I know administration is going to put a veto upon the budget including outcomes for F-22s. Perhaps some number of F-35s will be bought for Marines as their aircraft stuff is out of date (their Hornets were bought more than 20 years ago).

The F-35 Is A Good Aircraft,But It's Not An ASF. The F-22 Is Highly Needed. If The USAF Can't Get More Than 187 Planes,They Should Buy The F-15 SE. They Should Buy The A-29 Super Tucano For Strike Missions. It Would Save Flight Hours On F-15's/F-16's.
