A word to those who read comments. Of course F-16 is one of the most reliable and multirole fighters, and in the place of Swiss military officials I'd choose only its new modification. But note if Russians are such imperialists, why then their fighters shoot no planes and American ones shoot hundreds.

The best variant for any independent country is F-16C/D! It is the greatest fighter-bomber ever flew in the world . Strange to not see it in the list... USA fighter always the best, just throw off the prapaganda and analyze wars statistic. Just see how many free nations served amazing Falcons. How many aircrafts shot down Sukhois? ZERO! How many aircraft shot down Fighter Falcons? Hundreds!!

Only JAS 39-GRIPEN. I should like to remind that most often american weapon (if they certainly do not produce themselves, or it is enough money) buy the country supporting USA. The Switzerland not of them.

Right mind. Americans always produce qualitative and reliable weapons, even if they don't have the highest characteristics. Swiss are wise and freedom-loving people with the highest density of armament per sq. km and biggest army in Europe, though militia one. They'll make right choice. But to my mind, Gripen suits more to the small country, not pretending for world superiority, because of its being VERY multirole plane. Typhoon and Rafale are analogues. Better leave them to manufacturer-countries.

Grippen i tol'ko on. Ideal'noe sochetanie tseny i kachestva. I Evrofajter i Rafal' ne smotrya na to chto uzhe bez ogovorok otnosyatsya k istrebitelyam 5-go pokoleniya slishkom dorogi. CHto kasaetsya F-18 opyt ehkspluatatsii v drugikh stranakh pokazyvaet chto apparat ne lishen nedostatkov.
