Famous American aviator, screenwriter and producer. During WW1 he fought as bomber pilot. He was shot down and captured by the Germans. During 1919-1921 he was a member of a volunteer American flight squadron, the Kosciuszko Squadron, in Poland. He took part in the Polish-Soviet War. On July 26, 1920, his plane was shot down, and he spent nearly 9 months in a Soviet prison. He escaped just before the war was over. During the WW2 he served as colonel in China and in 1943-1945 as chief of staff for the 5th Air Force's Bomber Command. Cooper's most famous film work was the 1933 movie King Kong.
