The main marking is displayed in 4 positions (ie above and below each wing) on
aircraft. The fin flash is displayed on the rudder.

The Main Marking is the red-white-green triangle, which is displayed on the majority
of the FAM aircraft in 6 positions, fuselage and wings. On helicopters it is displayed on
both sides of the fuselage. Some aircraft and helicopters carry the inscription on both
sides of the top of the fuselage: FUERZA AEREA MEXICANA. The rudder markings, consisting of
green-white-red stripes, is always carried. The majority of the tactical aircraft,
including some transports are painted in overall Olive Drab green.

The Mexican Navy uses a different version of the main insignia, with one or two
anchors. A subdued version is used on tactical aircraft. Some aircraft carry the fin flash
while others carry the rudder markings. The majority of the aircraft and helicopters carry
the letters ARMADA DE MEXICO on both sides of the fuselage, or tail booms if they are
helicopters.
