Bristol Beaufighter - Israel

Unit: 103 tajeset, IDF/AF

Middle of 1948. This was one of four Beaufighters to reach Israel having taken off on England ostensibly to 'participate in a film about the New Zealand Air Force' in Scotland! Painted in RAF Desert Scheme of Dark Earth and Mid Stone with Azure Blue undersurfaces (almost certainly for 'film'), their appearance in IDF/AF service was described as 'grotty'. They were all out of service by the end of the year, one being shot down by Egyptians,
