Fiat CR.42 Falco - Hungary
Serial: V.234 Unit: unknown Fiat CR.42, V.234, in May 1941, soon after the campaign in Yugoslavia and shortly before the invasion of the Soviet Union. The aircraft wears an Hungarian variation of the Balkan Theatre markings as the tail and engine cowling only were yellow on the allied Luftwaffe machines. German aircraft did not adopt a fuselage band until the invasion of the Soviet Union, where the standard Eastern Front identity markings used by the Germans and their allies became a yellow fuselage band and wingtips. At that time the Hungarians followed the example of the Luftwaffe and moved the band to a position just in front of the tail assembly. Camouflage finish is one of the standard Italian schemes.
