In 03.06.1942, after the attack over Dutch Harbour, sub-officer Tadayoshi Koga landed in the island Akutan a swamp (and died) this his Zero '21'. The plane was captured by an US Navy team, and was repaired at NAS North Island, San Diego during August-October 1942. The propeller was replaced with an identical one Hamilton Standard. The fighter was repainted in blue marine with the US markings to avoid unpleasant incidents.
