She was laid down in July 1943 in Belfast. In 1948 she was loaned to the Royal Canadian Navy upon completion and commissioned in the RCN in March 1948. In November 1956 she took part in Suez crisis, she arrived in Port Said, Egypt and transported vehicles and army personnel to the UN forces. In 1957 she was returned to Royal Navy control and placed in reserve. Stricken in 1965 and broken up.
