  • She became the first Royal Navy ship to be completed as an aircraft carrier, rebuilt from a tramp steamer.
  • During first part of 1915 she provided support to Allied landings during Dardanelles campaign.
  • She served in the Eastern Mediterranean until the Armistice in 1918.
  • After the war she operated in the Black Sea, transporting aircraft to Batumi to support White Russian forces fighting the Russian Civil War.I
  • In the early 1920 she was used in support of the air and land campaign in Somalia against the Mad Mullah.
  • During 1920 she assisted the withdrawal of White Russian forces from Crimea.
  • In September 1922 she was operated in the Mediterranean again during the Chanak crisis.
  • From 1923 she was used as depot ship.
  • In December 1934 she was renamed HMS Pegasus to free her name for a new carrier.

  • HMS Pegasus (1934-1944)
    HMS Pegasus Type: CAM-ships
    Fate: scrapped
  • During 1930's she operated as an experimental aviation ship.
  • Refitted as a fighter catapult ship in 1940 and briefly operated in convoy duties during 1940-1941.
  • After July 1941 she was served as a transport and training ship.
  • Decommissioned in February 1944 and hulked as an accommodations ship.
  • In October 1946 she was sold for conversion to merchant ship Anita I, but conversion stopped.
  • In 1949 she was sold for scrapping.
