In July 1980 she was commissioned. In early 1982 was announced she would have been sold to Royal Australian Navy and renamed HMAS Australia. In Spring 1982 she took part in Falkland Islands. Argentineans claimed to have damaged this ship, bit British officially denied this announcements. In 1993-1995 she provided no-fly zone and supported UN troops in Bosnia. In 1995 she took part in NATO bombing in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1998-1999 she provided patrol missions in "No Fly" zone in South of Iraq. In 1999 she took part in NATO bombing of the Serbia. In 2005 she was decommissioned in reserve. It is announced that she would be inactive until 2010.
