  • She was laid down in 1944, launched in 1947 but fully completed only in 1954.
  • She was commissioned in May 1954.
  • In 1956 she operated in Mediterranean Sea ns took part in Suez Crisis attacked Egyptian airfields, and covered the paratroopers landings.
  • In 1957-1960 she served as attack carrier operated with jet airplanes.
  • In 1961-1962 she was converted to commando carrier and decommissioned to the Far East Fleet.
  • In 1964 she participated in operations off Borneo during the Indonesian Confrontation.
  • In 1967 she covered the withdrawal of British forces from Aden.
  • In October 1971 she covered the withdrawal of British forces from Singapore.
  • In 1972 she took part in several exercises included large NATO maneuvers.
  • In 1973 she was sold for conversion to a heavy lift vessel for North Sea oil exploration, but the plan was cancelled, and she was scrapped.
