  • She was originally laid down as battlecruiser, but converted to the aircraft cruiser equipped with 50 m deck.
  • She was commissioned in June 1917 and tested. After several unsuccessful landings it was decided to modernize her.
  • From November 1917 to March 1918 she was equipped with additional 91 m recovery deck and many other improvements.
  • In March 1918 she was commissioned.
  • She served in the WW1 and took part in several important battles, included famous attack the Zeppelin sheds at Tondern, in July 1918.
  • In the end of WW1 she was decommissioned in reserve.

  • In 1922-1925 she was modernized to the full value aircraft carrier.
  • During 1920's - 1930's she was actively served for training and for the development of various techniques and tactics of the carriers employment.
  • In 1939 she was modernized again.
  • During 1939-1942 she served with Home Fleet and was used mostly for German U-boats hunting in Atlantic.
  • In August 1942 she took significant part in Operation Pedestal, carrying aircraft to Malta.
  • In November 1942 she took part in Operation Torch, supported Allies landings in North Africa.
  • In 1943-1944 she strikes against German shipping and took part in the attack the German Battleship Tirpitz in Norway.
  • In September 1944 she was placed in reserve.
  • In 1948 she was scrapped.
