  • She originally intended as a Tosa class fast battleship, but during 1932-1928 she was converted and finished as aircraft carrier.
  • She was commissioned in 1929 but was many problems and imperfections.
  • In 1932 she took part in Shanghai Incident and bombed the city.
  • During 1934-1935 intensively refitted and rise capacity twice.
  • On 7th December 1941 she launched two strikes against Pearl Harbour.
  • In January 1942, together with Akagi, Kaga supported the invasion of Rabaul in the Bismarck Islands.
  • On 9th February 1942 she hit a reef at Palau and took on water. After temporary repairs, she continued combat action.
  • On 19th February 1942 she launched air strikes against Darwin, Australia, sinking nine ships, including USS Peary.
  • In March 1942 she covered the invasion of Java.
  • In April 1942 she returned to Sasebo for repairs.
  • On June 4th, 1942 she was fatally damaged by US Navy aviation during the Battle of Midway. Crew leaved the ship (lost over 800 crewmen) and she was sank by USN submarine.
