In Spring 1948 she embarked Fighter Squadron 17A th first US Navy squadron equipped with FH-1 Phantom jets.
In the early 1954 she operated off Korean coast. She provide air support for evacuation of former Chinese POW's from Inchon and Indian troops from Panmunjom.
In Spring-Summer 1954 she supported the French Aeronavale fighting at the battle of Dien Bien Phu in the latest days of the First Indochina War.
In the end of 1954 she delivered food and medical supplies and personnel to isolated areas of Haiti after Hurricane Hazel.

From 1963 to 1966 she has conversion to a command ship. Briefly designated CC-3, she was reclassified as Communications Major Relay ship AGMR-2 and renamed Arlington.
In August 1966 she was commissioned.
In the second half of 1967 she operated off Vietnam coast and supported combat operations.
In December 1968 she participated in the recovery of Apollo 8 spaceship.
In Spring 1969 she operated off Vietnam coast and supported combat operations again.
In May and in June 1969 she participated in the recovery of Apollo 10 and Apollo 11 spaceships landing module.
