She was commissioned in October 1944. In January 1945 she joined to USN Pacific Fleet. In February 1945 she launched attacks against Tokyo airfields, Tachikawa engine plant, island of Chichi Jima, launched three aerial sweeps in support of ground forces invading Iwo Jima and two against Haha Jima, attacked Hachijo Jima. On March 11th, 1945 she was hit by P1Y two-engine kamikadze bomber. 27 men were killed, 105 wounded. In April 1945 she shrikes against Okinawa, Ie Shima, Kakeroma Island, airfield in southern Kyushu. In May 1945 she shrikes against Ryukyus, southern Japan, Kikai-Amami Island naval base and airfields, and Kyushu airfields. In June 1945 she retired via Guam to the Philippines. In July 1945 she back to Japan coast and during July-August 1945 she actively operated off Japanese Home Islands, launched strikes airfields and ships in Inland Sea. She destroyed 25 to 30 ships and damaged 35 to 40 others. After the War ended in the end of 1945 she took part in the Operation Magic Carpet and completed two trips to the Mediterranean area to return American servicemen. In 1946-1947 she used as training ship. In February 1948 she was placed out of commission, in reserve.
