  • Immediately after the end of the Second World War, she was dispatched to Hong Kong to reoccupy the colony to prevent a coup de main by Chinese forces.
  • Later she joined the other Colossus-class ships in repatriating prisoners of war.
  • She was loaned to the Royal Australian Navy on 13th November 1952.

  • She took part in returning the aircraft of the famous 77 Squadron RAAF from Japan.
  • She returned to the Royal Navy on 12 August 1955.
  • She sold to Brazilian Navy in 1956.

  • NAeL Minas Gerais (1960-2001)

    Fate: scrapped
  • Refitted in the Netherlands, she was equipped with new weapons, a steam catapult, an angled flight deck, a new island superstructure and new American radar.
  • Due to jurisdiction problems with the Brazilian Air Force, the Navy could not operate fixed-wing aircraft and the carrier used only in ASW role equipped with helicopters only.
  • In early 2001 few modernized A-4 Skyhawks served with the Minas Gerais. This was the first time Brazilian Navy pilots were allowed to launch fixed wing jet aircraft on their own carrier.
  • She was decommissioned from the Brazilian Navy on 16 October 2001.
  • In February 2004 she was broken up for scrap in India.
